Turn Tilehurst Red

We were very pleased to be asked, by our friends, Thames Water and Stanley Electronics, to work with them to light up the Tilehurst water tower as part of the Turn Tilehurst Red event in commemoration of the centenary of Armistice Day. The end result drew huge crowds and was featured on BBC’s South Today as well as BBC Radio Berkshire, Heart FM and LBC Radio.

We feel it is very important to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

Thames Tower

Working with renowned artist, Stuart Melrose, we designed and built this incredible attraction. The aim was to create an installation where the surrounding environment reacted to the actions of people. To do this, we obtained a High-Striker machine and heavily modified it to run on batteries and with wireless data connections to the Thames Tower building. The building itself was filled with individually controlled lights on every floor that would show the results of each ‘test of strength’.

Wedding in the Woods

Nothing can be more romantic than to get married in a woodland clearing surrounded by beautiful countryside.  APS’s brief was to make this happen.

First the venue.  Our clients decided on The Wasing Estate near Aldermaston in Berkshire.  This really fitted the bill with ancient woods and a lake creating a beautiful setting, and other features, such as firepits, which would work well with their ‘festival’ theme.

Skylighting

Bruce Springsteen has a phase that he often uses during his legendary live performances. It is simply “Light it up!”. He does not mean himself, the band or the stage. He just means “Light it up” - and ‘it’ means everything. They are the words that lighting crews love to hear…

Rockley Manor

Rockley Manor is a lovely 18th century Grade II listed manor-house in extensive grounds which is hired out for weddings and private parties. APS have lit the main house and outside spaces to match the wedding colour themes and our clients’ wishes for their events. The house can be lit from all sides which makes it a spectacular landmark.

Green Park Wind Turbine

An installation for World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day.

With 2 of the APS team having lost family members to this dreadful disease, we came up with the idea of lighting up the large wind turbine just by Junction 11 of the M4 to help drive awareness and attract media coverage. We spoke to Ecotricity (the owners of the turbine) who kindly supported our idea and provided staff so that we could install our equipment on their site.

This aerial shot gives an idea of scale and size of this 120 metre landmark.

Bowood House

Bowood House is a stunning grade I listed Georgian country house with interiors by Robert Adam and a garden and parklands designed by Lancelot "Capability" Brown which is open to the public. It is also the family home of the Lansdowne family.
