Highclere Gin Launch - Highclere Castle

Highclere Castle, the home of The Earl and Countess of Carnarvon (and, of course, Downton Abbey), was also the location for the launch of the new Highclere Castle London Dry Gin. The specially invited guests were treated to a drinks reception with dancing girls, a carousel and various entertainers. Highclere Castle is a substantial and imposing building and we made sure that it was the centre of attraction by lighting it up with one of our Proteus hybrids. Not only that, we matched the eye-catching colour of the Highclere Castle Gin bottle - a deep, sultry purple.

Thames Tower

Working with renowned artist, Stuart Melrose, we designed and built this incredible attraction. The aim was to create an installation where the surrounding environment reacted to the actions of people. To do this, we obtained a High-Striker machine and heavily modified it to run on batteries and with wireless data connections to the Thames Tower building. The building itself was filled with individually controlled lights on every floor that would show the results of each ‘test of strength’.

Bruce Springsteen has a phase that he often uses during his legendary live performances. It is simply “Light it up!”. He does not mean himself, the band or the stage. He just means “Light it up” - and ‘it’ means everything. They are the words that lighting crews love to hear…

Green Park Wind Turbine

An installation for World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day.

With 2 of the APS team having lost family members to this dreadful disease, we came up with the idea of lighting up the large wind turbine just by Junction 11 of the M4 to help drive awareness and attract media coverage. We spoke to Ecotricity (the owners of the turbine) who kindly supported our idea and provided staff so that we could install our equipment on their site.

This aerial shot gives an idea of scale and size of this 120 metre landmark.
