Here at APS, we have listened to the Government's advice and are all working from home. Not because we are worried about getting infected with Covid-19 (although we are a bit!) but because we know that this is the best way to protect the vulnerable amongst us. It also helps those heroes in the NHS - whether front line staff of support teams - have the best chance of beating Cover-19. And that's what civilised people do.
Our industry is one which is totally dependent on power but there are still ways that we can reduce the impact we have on the environment. Here at APS, we always think carefully about the implications of our actions with regards to waste, the environment and climate change.
At the end of last year, APS packaged up and sent off some of our lights - Professional IP-rated SGM P10 LED flood / wash lights with a standard 10° beam angle to be precise – to help illuminate the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
It was part of the celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of World Heritage Site status for the aqueduct and Llangollen Canal.
Easthampstead Park is a Grade II listed Victorian mansion built in a Jacobean style and is used as a stunning venue for weddings, conferences, meetings, parties and corporate events. Our close partners, Chordiem, were asked to design and manage a corporate event for a finance company at the mansion and they asked us to light up the building.
The mansion at Easthampstead Park is a large building so we knew we needed a light that was powerful enough to do the job and, if it's out and out power you want, the SGM P10 is the way to go. Once lit, the venue looked like this -
A beautiful marina overflowing with exquisite yachts and a crowd all waiting in expectation of the start of the Monaco Grand Prix - how could his possibly be improved? By lighting it up with some spectacular Proteus Hybrids, that's how!
Breakthrough Learning is a charity working with children and adults to develop their learning and thinking skills, helping them to succeed in the rapidly changing 21st century. They also help people understand their own emotions and those of others, giving them the tools they need to engage with society. When people are able to control their thinking and their emotions, they become more effective learners. The charity is based in Reading, Berkshire and has projects throughout the UK
As a romantic setting, Stoke Park is hard to beat. Set in the glorious countryside of Stoke Poges in Buckinghamshire, this gorgeous country house hotel, spa and golf course is a favourite place for those celebrating Valentine's Day. To make it even more special, APS were asked to light up the the building in various shades with a few of our SGM P10s and highlight the tower on the top of the cupola with our incredibly powerful Proteus Hybrids.
Highclere Castle, the home of The Earl and Countess of Carnarvon (and, of course, Downton Abbey), was also the location for the launch of the new Highclere Castle London Dry Gin. The specially invited guests were treated to a drinks reception with dancing girls, a carousel and various entertainers (like the human statue, below!)
APS have a number of commercial and retail clients that we have created installations for to raise awareness and increase footfall and linger-time.
Working with renowned artist, Stuart Melrose, we designed and built this incredible attraction. The aim was to create an installation where the surrounding environment reacted to the actions of people. To do this, we obtained a High-Striker machine and heavily modified it to run on batteries and with wireless data connections to the Thames Tower building. The building itself was filled with individually controlled lights on every floor that would show the results of each ‘test of strength’.
